Toe Separators - Large/Firm are a staple of podiatry and orthopedics offices. Large Firm Toe Separators are worn between the first and second toe to cushion toes, control great toe pain, bunion pain, and straighten drifting big toes, gently providing a ½ inch, extra-wide space between overlapping toes. Use after bunion surgery to align the great toe back into proper position. Large Toe Spacers are made of firm foam that is long-lasting, washable, and reusable. Contains latex. Universal right/left. Indications - The Toe Separator - Large/Firm is used to align the great toe in cases of a bunion. These pads also are great for maintaining alignment of the great toe after bunion surgery.

How firm is firm for this product?

Answer:

The toe separators are very firm.  They have very little compression and work very well to keep your toes apart without discomfort.

My bunion has been causing me a lot of pain, especially when wearing shoes. Will this product help to ease the pain?

Answer:

Yes, this product would be a good option for pain caused by a bunion. Bunions increase the forefoot's width changing the position of the joint and force the great toe to function in a way that can cause arthritis. This product should help with relieving pressure.

Question:

My bunion has progressed as I've gotten older. I'm trying to play tennis now and don't have good support on my right foot because my big toe has drifted so far over. Will this pad help keep my toe over with the exertion of movement playing tennis or will it just give me blisters?

Answer:

This is a firm bunion spacer that should keep your toe in position. Your sock is what keeps it in place, so a snug-fitting sock is best, or you could use Co-Flex to keep it in place. In cases where the second toe has drifted over the great toe, you might be a little challenged keeping the toe separator in place. In that case, you may be better to use a toe straightener to pull the second to into place.
