Dancer's Pads - Premium Felt are adhesive-backed metatarsal support cushions that offer relief from forefoot pain by off-loading weight from the ball of the foot and the great toe joint. The cut-out area surrounds the great toe joint and re-distributes weight onto the pad, relieving forefoot pain caused by many conditions of the feet. Choosing right or left: Choosing the correct dancer's pad for your specific needs can sometimes be tricky. Here are some examples of how to choose the correct pad:

• If you are having trouble with your left big toe joint and want to wear the Dancers' Pad on your skin, then you should buy a package of left-specific dancer's pads. If you would rather place the pad in your left shoe to treat a left foot problem, you'll need to reverse them, so you should purchase a package of right-specific pads.

• If you wish to off-load a problem beneath the little toe joint, and would like to apply the dancer's pad to the skin, then you would purchase the opposite side that you would need if you were treating your big toe. If you are treating your left 5th toe and want to place the pad on the bottom of your foot, you should purchase a package of right-specific Dancer's Pads. If you want to treat a callus beneath the 5th toe and you wish to place the pad in your shoe, then you would do the opposite and purchase a package of left-specific Dancer's Pads.

I don't understand what you mean by "off loading of the forefoot".  Can you explain what that means?

Answer:

Off loading the forefoot simply means redistributing the weight and pressure on the forefoot back to the midfoot and heel.  Metatarsal pads help not only to redistribute that weight and pressure, but helps spread the metatarsals so that there is more room between the toes.  Dancer's Pads Premium Felt are great for sesamoiditis, Hallux limitus, Metatarsalgia and various other forefoot issues.

I have metatarsalgia, will this product help me?

Answer:

Yes! Metatarsalgis is a generic term used to describe non-specific forefoot pain in the region of the metatarsal bones. This pad will off-load the forefoot by taking the load off the ball of the foot. The dancer's pad will help to distribute load bearing. 

Question:

Just purchased the premium felt dancer's pads and would like to know if they can be cleaned. Also, how long does the sticky side last if placed on the foot or in the shoe when removed? Should these pads be worn with orthodics, alone or which ever feels best? P.S. I am trying these because nothing else has worked. I have hallux rigidus and ball of foot/forefoot pain. I have also ordered the turf toe plate which should arrive soon. I have worn these before but they only alleviates the big toe joint pain but not ball of foot. Trying anything and everything.

Answer:

The Premium felt Dancers' Pads can't really be washed, as that would ruin the adhesive on the back. I suppose you could clean the felt side with a damp cloth or brush if need be. These pads are made with traditional adhesive, so they are intended to be applied just once. However,some customers have said that they can apply them several times to their skin before the adhesive stops working. The Premium Felt Dancers' Pads can be applied to your orthotics,to your Turf Toe Plates, or to your foot - whichever works best at relieving your pain. You may want to test-drive them by keeping them in place with medical tape before exposing their adhesive.

Question:

I have a irritating corn just under the tailor's bunion on my right foot. Is there a dancer's pad or somesuch I could use to make it more comfortable.

Answer:

Any Dancer's Pad or Metatarsal Pad would serve to take the weight off of the 5th metatarsal head where your corn develops. This Premium Dancer's Pad is specifically designed to focus on the big toe joint, so I would suggest that you look at either the Economy Dancer's Pad or the Felt Metatarsal Pad.  We call it a reversed dancer's pad.  you're just flipping it over and using it sub 5 inseatd of sub 1.

Question:

In the video for the economby dancer's pads, you indicate that you would put the pad on the under side of the insole. is that the case here too?

Answer:

That is the best place to put them, but they can also be placed on top of the insole or directly on your foot - whatever is most comfortable for you. If they are underneath the insole, they tend to stay cleaner and may last a bit longer.

Question:

I've been having ongoing issues with my right foot since a horse accident two years ago. I've had issues with my midfoot/lisfranc area and my sesamoids. I have orthotics with a small dancers pad but an orthopedic doctor suggested adding another one on top to see if it would be worth modifying my orthotics. I'm looking for something to stick on the orthotic to try for a month or so. Which of the dancer's pads would you recommend?

Answer:

All of these Dancer Pads would be helpful. The Economy Dancers Pads, and the Premium Dancers Pads adhere to your shoe, while the Reusable Gel Dancer's Pads adhere to the skin on the bottom of your foot.
