Therafirm Compression Knee High Socks are lightly-ribbed support stockings offering graduated compression (15-20 mm/Hg) with non-binding tops, providing relief to swollen legs, tired feet, and ankle swelling. Gradient compression delivers distributed compression to the calf and ankle. The degree of compression gradually decreases from the ankle to the knee. Compression support hose is generally expressed in mmHg (millimeters of mercury) and has 4 levels of pressure. Therafirm Compression Knee High Stockings provide a mild, non-prescription "grade 1" of compression, ideal to treat tired, aching feet and legs, mild swelling, and small varicose veins.

I wait tables for a living and don't really have a medical condition that requires me to wear support hose. But I'm wondering if these have light enough compression to help my feet and legs from aching and swelling at the end of a shift, and wouldn't be too hard to get on.

Question:

I have ordered from a surgical discount place 15-20 compression socks, but after a few wearings the tops slide down enough to make ridges at the ankles and thus had to throw them away. They also wore out very fast. I just want to know if I order from you how long you estimate they will last when wearing one pair 3X week all day, and is the band wide and non constricting? 

Answer:

It is always difficult to estimate how long a product will last, but I can say that the Therafirm socks have a 1" wide non-constricting band at the top as well as gradient compression. The gradient compression means that there is more pressure at the ankle, which decreases gradually toward the top to promote better venous blood flow.

What compression are the Therafirm socks? I need 15 to 20.

The only compression we sell is the 15-20 mmHg which is mild support. They should do you well.

Are the heel and toe of compression fabric or a regular fabric?

Answer:

The heel and toe do not have compression in them - they are made of the regular fabric and reinforced for durability.
