Question:
I have Metatarsalgia. Will this product help me?
Answer:
Yes! Metatarsalgia is a generic term used to describe non-specific forefoot pain in the region of the metatarsal bones. This pad will off-load the forefoot. By taking load off the ball of the foot, metatarsal pads help to redistribute load bearing.
Question:
Which is the highest recommended metatarsal pad for capsulitis? I work full time on my feet and need help! I recently bought a pair of professional Dankso shoes (still being shipped to me), so I'm hopeful that will also help my pain situation. Also, is it ok to wear an occasional heel if I put a pad in the shoe?
Answer:
The Pedag T-Form is a very good metatarsal pad: firm foam topped with leather. However, there is clearly a left and right pad, so if you only have capsulitis on one foot, you might want to start with a pad that is universally shaped, such as our Felt Metatarsal Pads, and Reusable Gel Ball of Foot Cushions. Your choice of Dansko Professional clogs is great, as the toe box is nice and wide. And you certainly could wear a metatarsal pad in heels if it fits okay in the shoe. The thinner Reusable Gel pads might work well in heels.
Question:
What is the best metatarsal pad for high arch, deep vaulted feet with fhl?
Answer:
Good question. The different types of metatarsal pads aren’t necessarily going to vary with foot type (flat foot vs high arch). What we’ll see though with a high arch is typically a more prominent set of metatarsal heads 1-5. It’s also common to have less fat padding on the ball of the foot. The Pedag T-Form would be a good choice for you. Much of your success will come with trial and error on the type of metatarsal pad and proper placement. Met pads are inexpensive so you might want to vary the types of metatarsal pads to see which one is most effective for you.
