Question:
I am just starting to get some pain in the joint of my large toe. I have a hiking trip planned and wonder if this would be a good item to take along. I am not quite ready to try a carbon fiber insert.
Answer:
This would be a great product to try. Trainers, podiatrist, and sports medicine specialists use the Turf Toe T-Strap as a brace during the acute phase of turf toe and big toe joint injuries to relieve pain in the big toe and keep players in the game.

Question:
I have been diagnosed with Hallux Limitus and will be having surgery in a few weeks. In the meantime, will your products help to alleviate the pain? Is the Turf Toe T-Strap reusable or is it for one-time use only? What other products do you recommend for Hallux Limitus?
Answer:
The Turf Toe T-Strap limits the range of motion of your big toe joint, which will reduce the pain associated with hallux limitus. The T-strap is not reusable, as the adhesive on the back can't really be reapplied. However, it will stay on your foot for several days if you don't get it wet while bathing. If it does get wet, you can use a blow dryer to dry it. Check out our Dancer's Pads for a short-term fix as well.
Question:
I see from the picture of the strap that it goes back to the heel. Does it wrap around the back of the heel?
Answer:
No, it's not intended to wrap around the back of the heel. The base of the 'T' (top surrounding the toe), gets enough grip from being adhered to the sole of the foot from the forefoot back to the heel. There's a lot of surface area for that base strip to grip just fine.
Question:
Is the Turf toe T-strap a one-use only product? Comments complain about the length of the strap. What size is it meant to stretch to? The photo does not show how it afixes to the heel area to create the tension that prevents/limits motion of the toe. How does it fit at or around the heel?
Answer:
Yes, it is a one-use product. It's an adhesive backed strap that will stick directly to the skin for a number of days. The duration of time that the Turf Toe T-Strap will stick to the skin depends on a number of variables including your degree of activity, amount of perspiration, etc. Be sure to apply the Turf Toe T-Strap to clean dry skin, free of skin lotion. The long leg of the T Strap is intended to anchor to the plantar aspect of the foot. The long leg is wider to maximize the surface area that the T-Strap may stick to the bottom of the foot. This part of the strap adheres well and doesn't need to be anchored to the heel.
Question:
I suffered a fracture at the base of my fifth metatarsal 20 weeks ago. The fracture is 80% healed but from prolonged disuse and immobilization, my first metatarsal joint hurts anytime it flexes upward. CT shows mild arthritic changes. PT shows about 45 degrees ROM. I also have some sympathetic dysfunction in the foot which makes pain sensations difficult to discern. My question is based on this brief history is this a product that would help my first metatarsal pain without aggravating my fifth metatarsal?
Answer:
Look at the Turf Toe T-Strap as a short term fix. A good example would be to use it for a run or to use during a soccer or football game. I think your brief history really speaks more to the use of a Turf Toe Plate. The Turf Toe Plate would work better in several respects. First, the Morton's extension on the Turf Toe Plate would address the hallux limitus of the great toe joint. Secondly, the rigidity of the Turf Toe Plate would help to promote healing of the 5th metatarsal fracture. And lastly, the Turf Toe Plate would help a bit to protect your foot a bit in light of your symptoms of neuropathy. Sure, The Turf Toe Plate is more expensive, but I think in the long run you'll get your moneys worth out of it.
