The Gel Metatarsal Cushion is a soft, reusable metatarsal pad (met pad) used to support and protect the ball of the foot, easing forefoot pain. The gel material is oil-based, non-toxic, non-allergenic, and safe to wear. Hand-wash and air dry. Latex-free. Right/left specific. Two sizes available.

Question:

I am a dancer and have recently developed capsulitis. This becomes painful while dancing and I get swelling in the ball of my foot. How will this product help? 

Answer:

The Metatarsal Cushion will ease forefoot and ball of the foot pain.

Question:

I have metatarsalgia, will this product help me?

Answer:

Yes! Metatarsalgia is a generic term used to describe non-specific forefoot pain in the region of the metatarsal bones. This pad will off-load the forefoot by taking the load off the ball of the foot. The metatarsal pad will help to redistribute load bearing. 

Question:

Which gel pads are better--the ones with the toe holder or the ones without? I would imagine the ones with the toe holder would stay in place better, but please advise.

Answer:

It's a matter of personal preference. We tend to sell similar amounts of each of these pads with no real preference defined by customer sales on our site. The other pads you mention are the Ball of Foot Gel Pads and our Foam Ball of Foot Pads. Both of these pads are placed in the shoe without adhesive. Question:

How thick are these pads?

Answer:

There's actually two thicknesses. The center is 1/4" while the outer rim of the pad is 1/8".

Question:

I bought a pair of these and they seem to be just a tad wide for my foot. Can I trim them with scissors?

Answer:

You can. Just be sure not to make any rough or sharp edges. It'd be best if you could find a way to skive or bevel the edges where you cut them so that they'd be a little less noticeable.

Question:

I wear a men's size 11.5 D. How do I know if I need the large or small pad?

Answer:

Most men would wear the large, as the width would be more appropriate for larger feet. If you wear an 11.5, I'm sure this would be the right choice for you.
