Question:
Can these inserts be trimmed to fit my shoes?
Answer:
No they can't. They have a finished seam around the periphery of the insert that would fray if you try to trim them. They must be well sized though because we've never had a return due to poor fit. Granted, they're not going to fit in tighter dress shoes or heels, but that's not what their intended use is in the first place. They're more for casual shoes like tennis shoes or topsiders.
Question:
I like to go barefoot since I live in Florida. Can I use the Pedag Viva Summer inserts in my shoes even if I'm barefoot?
Answer:
Absolutely. In fact they're intended to be used in this way. The Terry Cloth top and sisal fibers are intended to absorb moisture, so socks aren't necessary. Be sure to give them a chance to dry between uses.
Question:
Can these inserts be used in running shoes during a triathlon for example? Currently the pain I have during running is up where the 3rd and 4th toes meet the forefoot on the underside.
Answer:
Yes- They are designed to be worn during sport-related activities, as they are designed to wick away moisture while offering arch support and a metatarsal pad.
Question:
I cycle 4-6 times a week with shimano SPD pedals and shoes that clip into the pedals. The cleat on the shoe attaches to the pedal on the ball of the foot. I have developed what I think is metatarsalgia in my right foot behind the second toe. Do you think these inserts will help my pain or could you suggest something else?
Answer:
These inserts do have a metatarsal pad, but you may want to take a look at the Pedag Pro-Active XCO also. It has a nice metatarsal pad as well, but the forefoot can be trimmed to fit, if your cycling shoes are tight-fitting. Any of the individual metatarsal pads we carry could also work well in your cycling shoes if you don't have a lot of room.
