Sizing: We strongly suggest that you use length rather than shoe size as the determining factor in deciding which size carbon plate to purchase. The best method is to take an insole out of a shoe you wear regularly and measure it from the back of the heel to the tip of the toe, then choose a plate that is slightly shorter than your insert, so that the Carbon Fiber Contour Foot Plates can be placed underneath the insole of your shoe. If you wear a half-size, we recommend the smaller size Carbon Fiber Contour Foot Plate.
XAT Carbon Fiber Contour Foot Plates are heat moldable. If modified, they cannot be returned for a refund or exchange.
Because the Carbon Fiber Spring Plate Graphite Insoles are very rigid and do not have a soft top cover, we suggest wearing them beneath a soft insole - either your shoes' existing insoles or over-the-counter insoles such as the Pedag SOFT Shoe Insoles, or Pedag Magic Step Insoles. It is important to wear your plates in shoe that do not have a very flexible sole, as the lack of rigidity will put stress on your plate when you flex your foot, which could cause the plate to crack.

Flat Glass Fiber Plates contain no arch support or toe spring. They're recommended for metatarsal fractures and midfoot arthritis. Flat Glass Fiber Plates are also used as an impenetrable plate to protect against puncture wounds of the foot.

Question:
I have a metatarsal stress fracture and my doctor recommended a stiff plate. Will this work for me?
Answer:
It would work for you if your doctor understands that there is some spring to the plate. It might be more appropriate to use a flat plate where your foot is not bending at all. A lot depends on what stage of healing you are at and what your doctor feels is appropriate.

Is the Carbon Contour Plate exactly the same material as the Spring Plate?
Answer:
Not exactly. The Spring Plate is made of carbon graphite where the Contour Plate is a combination of carbon graphite and polymer/acrylic that gives it a little bit different feel. Much smoother than the Spring Plate.

Question:
I have been putting the contour plate in my running shoes and I have noticed that the plate is starting to crack at the forefoot area. Why is this happening?
Answer:
The Contour Plate is actually meant to be in a stiffer shoe as a flexible shoe will allow the plate to have more bend at the forefoot than was intended for it's use. This places more force on the plate and can cause the cracking that is happening.

If I receive my order and it's not the correct size can I return it?
Answer:
If the product meets the following requirements it can be returned or replaced. It must not show wear, it cannot be damaged by use or modification. It needs to be in the original packaging and be mailed with a copy of the original order receipt.

Question: The sizes on the Contour Plate do not show inches. Just Euro Metric sizes. How do I know what size I am?
Answer: In the Measurements Tab you will find corresponding Metric sizes and the inches that match them. Be sure to measure a current insole in inches and then under that tab match the inches to the size. If your inches fall between some of the sizes be sure to order the smaller size down, otherwise your insert may be too large.

Question: How does the Carbon Fiber Contour Plate differ from the Carbon Graphite Spring Plate?
Answer: The difference is the thickness of the insole, the contour of the plate and the arch height. The Contour Plate is 1/8" thick whereas the Spring Plate is 1/16" thick. The Contour Plate has a smoother finish, whereas the Spring Plate is rougher in texture. Both require an insole to be placed over them. The arch height on the Spring Plate is somewhat higher than the Contour Plate. Otherwise they do the same job of keeping your foot rigid but both still have the toe spring.
