Question:
What is the best brace to stop or help with peronal subluxation?
Answer:
The key with preventing peroneal tendon subluxation is to prevent inversion of the ankle. You can't just try to hold the tendon down in place by compressing it. The Swede-O ankle Lok would work well, as it has firm plastic side stays and a lace-up fit. The AirSport Ankle Brace would also work well.

Question: Thanks for your recommendation of this brace so that I can try walking again for exercise with OCD of the talar dome. Would you recommend that I use the side supports that are in the description? The doctor didn't give me a "stage" and nothing in writing after a scan, but the original xray report read: "7mm focus of subchondral lucency in the superior medial aspect of the talar dome with a smaller 4 mm subchondral lucency in the adjacent tibial plafond." I was not given instructions except to go do whatever I want to do and come back when I have more problems. The problem is that I have to be able to work for quite a few more years, and can't do anything to jeopardize that. AND that I want to stay fit, and have an active job.
Answer:
Yup. Use the stays. It’s all about limiting the range of motion of the ankle and the stays will limit inversion/ and eversion.
Question:
I have Metatarsus Adductus that was never corrected as a child .What is the brace for a adult with this issue?
Answer:
The best brace is going to be an Oxford style shoe. The three attributes of an Oxford include a slight heel, rigid shank and laced upper. The more supportive the upper, the better the shoe will act as a brace (think men’s wing tip as an extreme example). The shank is really a brilliant invention. The shank of the shoe is designed to carry the force generated by the calf beyond the midfoot. In essence, the shank is the brace for the load applied to the midfoot in cases of metatarsus adductus. Some tennis shoes will have the same characteristics as an Oxford – tennis shoes are really a knock off design of the traditional Oxford. Just make sure that the shank is rigid. To test the shank, take the tennis shoe by the heel and toe and try to bend the shoe at the midfoot. If it bends anywhere other than at the ball of the foot, the shank is too weak. Alternatively you can stiffen the shoe with a rigid arch support like the Pedag Viva Mini, or the Myfootshop Sport Carbon Fiber Orthotics-Full Length.
