Question:
I tend to roll my ankle to the outside every once in a while. Will this offer enough support to keep that from happeniing so often?
Answer:
This slip on ankle support will help minimize the range of motion your ankle might have and keep you more stable. However, it is light support ~ not anything like a Swedo Ankle Lok Brace, which is very stiff. I would suggest you look at our Lateral Sole Wedge Inserts to use with the Ankle Wrap, as it would keep you from rolling out so much.

Question:
I have sprained my ankle several times and am looking for some extra support, is this a good product for that?

Question:
Hello. I am looking for an ankle brace that I can use as a step down from an Air Cast boot. I fractured my right ankle and I am in physical Therapy right now. I want to find a product that can provide support both now and in the future. I played tennis before this break and would like to get back to that next spring and skiing this winter. Of course, I need to finish therapy to determine how strong a stable the ankle will be by itself, but I want to start thinking about options now.
I want to find something that provides support and is easy to get into and out of as well. Would you please suggest a couple of products?
Answer:
Ankle braces provide two functions: they provide compression to manage edema (swelling) and the provide stability to inhibit inversion sprains. In this particular case, once the fracture is healed there really should not be any degree of ankle instability, unless there was instability prior to the fracture. So, the focus really then becomes compression. With a slip on ankle brace like the Ankle Support-Elastic, the brace will provide the needed compression but will also provide a small measure of support of instability. I call that small amount of support the 'security blanket effect'. Just by wearing a compression brace, it make you feel more stable and more able to return to activities with a little more sense of security. If you think you need actual stability control, take a look at the AirSport Ankle Brace.

Question:
Would this be good support for healed fractured talus that causes issue up leg. Would it hold tibia and fibula tight together?
Answer:
Yes. This would be a good general purpose support for everyday activity. The choice of support/brace depends upon several variables; the severity of your fracture, how well you’ve healed and the nature of the activity that you are wanting to participate in. For instance, you might be able to squeek by in a sedentary work environment with just some OTC support hose to control swelling. But as you get more active and need more support (such as sports), I’d move you into a very supportive brace like out AirSport Brace. But as a middle of the road choice, I think your good with our elastic ankle support.
Question:
What is the best ankle support for sinus tarsi syndrome?
Answer:
This slip-on ankle brace is a good choice for light support for sinus tarsi syndrome. If you need more support, an ankle brace with firms sides would be better, such as The Airsport Ankle Brace or the Swede-O Ankle Lok.
Question:
I have a torn tendon. From the doctors letter states. There is a gap in the peroneous longus tendon consistent with a full thickness tear of 1.5cm in diameter Located at the level of the calcaneum. Doctor will not operate unless I cant walk and the other tendons will take up the work of this tendon. It is constentkly become inflamed. I have had 2 lots of steriod injections. OK for a while. I need an elastic ankle support to do some of the work of the peroneus longus tendon. I assume the elastic support wouild run from underneath the foot around the ankle and up the side of the leg to mimic the tendon. I also need to wear it with shoes ans socks so not bulky as I am a dance teacher. Would this elastic support do or is they another one more designed for my problem?
Answer:
I spoke to our medical director regarding your question and he had a couple of thoughts…. “Be sure to read our articles on peroneal tendonitis and peroneal tendon ruptures. The brevis tendon is torn so much more often. But if the peroneus longus is truly torn, there out to be a progressive increase in the height of the arch, knowing that the function of the longus tendon is to pronate the foot by plantar flexing the 1st metatarsal. I’d back off on the cortisone knowing that cortisone can weaken a tendon and potentially contribute to a full tear when the problem is a partial tear. As for products, the elastic ankle brace is good but you may want to combine it with a lateral sole wedge. The lateral sole wedge will decrease the mechanical load applied to both the brevis and longus tendons.”
Question:
The loft ladder slid from underneath me and I ended up with a badly injured double fracture to my left heel bone. The main injury has now repaired but after I`ve been moving around a bit or even just leaving me foot resting on the floor, the ankle swells quite substantially most of the time I have to elevate it which does help. I still have to use my crutches when I go out to aid my movement because if I try without them my right hip area start to ache a lot. Would you recommend an ankle support to help my situation?
Answer:
Ankle braces offer compression for swelling and stability for weak ligaments (or both). The elastic ankle support would be a good choice for control of swelling.
Question:
I had some x-rays done on my ankle. I am a school cook and I am on my feet for 7 hours a day and I have sinus tarsi syndrome in my left ankle and I can't find anything to help me not be in pain during day at work. What would help me at work to wear? I needing something that will work my ankle hurts by middle of day and cant stand to put weight on it.
Answer:
Sinus Tarsitis (also known as sinus tarsi syndrome) can be caused by a number of factors but the most common by far is eccentric loading of the subtalar joint. The sub talar joint can be realigned with an arch support. The realignment of the subtalar joint will decrease eccentric loading and subsequently decrease pain. The arch support should be semi-rigid. Our best product would be either our full length or half length carbon graphite inserts.
